Working At Johnson & Boon
Our work spans commercial, property, litigation, family and private client matters, so no two days look quite the same. People here are trusted with real responsibility early on, supported by experienced colleagues who are there to be asked, and given training and a clear route forward as they develop. We look for people who are technically strong but practically minded — who can explain a complicated position simply and keep matters moving without needing to be chased. Experience is important, but professionalism, enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute matter just as much. If you want to build a career rather than fill a role, we'd like to hear from you.

Frequently Asked
Questions
What kind of roles do you recruit for?
Our requirements change as the firm grows, but opportunities arise for solicitors, CILEX lawyers, paralegals, solicitor apprentices, legal assistants and business support staff across our practice areas.
There isn’t a suitable vacancy at the moment. Can I still send my CV?
Please do. Some of our strongest appointments have come from people who approached us before a vacancy existed. If your experience fits the firm, we’ll hold your details and get in touch when something suitable comes up.
I’m newly qualified, or approaching qualification. Should I apply?
Yes. We recruit at every level and we’re genuinely interested in people at the start of their careers. If you’re approaching qualification and the timing looks close, get in touch rather than waiting.
I’m interested in a solicitor apprenticeship or a training route. Do you offer those?
Depending on the needs of the firm, opportunities can include solicitor apprenticeships, trainee positions, paralegal and legal assistant roles. Successful applicants work closely with experienced colleagues while continuing their studies where applicable.
What does training and development actually look like?
It depends on your role and stage of career, but the principle is the same throughout: you learn by working on real matters alongside people who can guide you, supported by professional development along the way.
I’m an experienced lawyer. What would a move here involve?
A conversation first. We’d want to understand your practice, the work you enjoy and what you’re looking for before talking about specific opportunities. Where there’s a mutual fit, we keep the process straightforward and transparent.
Do you offer flexible working?
Where the role allows, yes. It’s something we’d discuss with you directly rather than apply as a fixed policy, so we can agree an arrangement that works for you and for the team.
How do I apply?
Send your CV and a short covering email to info@johnsonandboon.co.uk. We’ll review your application and contact you if your experience matches a current or future opportunity.
